When did my son become so rude? Today as we were walking out of Walmart he almost ran into an older man pushing a shopping cart, his response after he got past him was, " Watch out old man!" He has been calling all men, old man lately. I think he got it from the movie Cars.
Also he started swimming lessons this week. He has had so much fun. A few years ago on out trip to Disneyland at the hotel he was jumping into the pool and my Dad would catch him. Well I had the bright idea to tell my Dad to let him actually go in the water all the way. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE! Ever since he has been deathly afraid of the water. When you take him swimming in a pool he latched on to your arm unless he can touch well and freaks out if you hold him away from you.
So he has made HUGE strides in the past 3 days of swimming lessons. They aren't actually learning to "Swim" they are learning to be comfortable with the water and water safety and how to do the basic things so that they can eventually learn to swim. It is for preschool age kids. So far he has plugged his nose and gone under the water. He hates it when the water gets in his ears though! He has also let the teacher put him in a noodle while he paddles with his arms and kicks his feet. Before he would freak out if he wasn't being held or couldn't touch the ground. They have also made a train with the noodles and gone into the deeper area. Even though he couldn't touch and the teacher was at the front of the line he was relaxed and having lots of fun. He did a back float today. He is getting so much better. I am proud of him and am really glad that someone is able to convince him into doing these things, because they weren't going to happen with me.
Today the teacher tried to get him to reach under the water and grab a pool toy, which would require him to stick his entire head under. He looked at the teacher and said, "How about you do it!" He really hates to get his ears wet. I am not sure what to do about that one. I thought about getting him ear plugs but worry he wouldn't be able to hear very well with them in.
