Christmas Memories

Sometimes as I am driving around and hear a Christmas song it takes me back to when i was a kid. It takes me back to when I was younger and being with my family. Driving around on Christmas Eve to look at all the beautiful lights. It's so strange how one song can just take you back to a moment you haven't thought of years earlier.  When I think back to my childhood Christmases I remember the favorite toys but the thing that I remember the most is the joyous and happy feeling I had spending time with my family. I know it sounds a little cheesy but I think the main reason I remember the toys is because I have pictures to help me. One year I was super sick with a cold and we still went out driving around and looking at the lights and having a good time.  When I was 5 I remember going out to look at the lights in my Dad's Blazer with my sister Bree, Mom, Dad, Aunt Amy and Uncle Terry. We even stopped at the church parking lot to do donuts in the snow. When we got back we somehow locked ourselves out of the house and then had to break in the sliding glass door.

Lately every time I hear a Christmas song (not the Santa ones) but the ones that help us celebrate the birth of our Savior makes me cry because I am so thankful.  Tonight for family home evening we had a little puppet show. My grandma made puppets out of felt of Mary, Joesph, Jesus and all the others in the story and it came with a card with a story to tell your children and songs to play with it. It is the first time we really sat down with Kade and told him about it. In the past we just told him the main part, that it is Jesus's Birthday.  So it was fun to tell him the story.

This year I got the Fisher-Price little people Nativity for the kids to play with and to teach and tell them the story. I just love it! It's my favorite Christmas decoration by far!

I hope this week gets better! Kade threw up at school and came home with a fever. Kamryn has some teeth that just need to come in for all of our sanity and Keegan is constipated (poor guy! I think I have tried just about everything!).  We have a busy week, but I am looking forward to it and I'm excited for some family time.

Will you post the story and a picture of the puppets. I think we need that at our house.
